Maiêutica is the founding body of University Institute of Maia – ISMAI, and Polytechnic Institute of Maia – IPMaia, a private non-profit HEI located in Maia, near Porto. The university campus occupies an area of 70,000m2 and provides students with excellent infrastructures and leading-edge technological equipment.

ISMAI is the 2nd largest private HEI in Portugal. It has more than 250 staff members and 4,000 students, and offers a wide range of 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle programmes in the fields of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Business Sciences, Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Communication Sciences and Information Technologies.

Physical Education and Sport Sciences is one of the main areas of ISMAI/IPMAIA. The RePLAY2.0 project aims to promote social inclusion and equal opportunities in Sports through the development of a mentoring program between students from Higher Education Sports Institutions and young volunteer coaches from sports organizations that work with youth and children from disadvantaged groups and with no experience with physical activity. Through this way, the synergy between the project goals and our students education is very important. With this project  it will be possible to: i) enhance the high performance skills of young volunteers, in our case sports students; ii) transfer the dual career approach and mentoring methodology, also included in our degrees, to empower these young people in sports education and in the promotion of sports, as a tool for social inclusion; iii) strengthen grassroots sport as a way to promote values, inclusion and sports participation of young people and children from disadvantaged groups; and, iv) promote cooperation between local sports organizations and Higher Education Sports Institutions in order to strengthen the role of Sport and Physical Activity as a tool for inclusion and well-being, which are values that are also important characteristics of our degrees.
